Couch Conversations!
What Is Advocacy Anyway?
Let’s talk advocacy. Let’s talk liver. Let’s talk you.
Tuesday, October 21, 2025 3PM ET
You’ve got liver disease. You’ve got questions. And guess what? You’ve also got a PEER community that wants to help.*

We hear the word advocacy all the time—but what does it actually mean? Is it lobbying on Capitol Hill? Starting a nonprofit? Or simply sharing your story at a church potluck?
This special Liver Awareness Month kickoff edition of Couch Conversations is here to break it down.
Whether you’re newly diagnosed, living with liver disease, or rocking life post-transplant, you are an advocate. You just might not know it yet. Caregivers, medical professionals and loved ones are advocates too!

-
Come for the clarity.
-
Stay for the conversation.
-
Leave with a renewed sense of purpose (and maybe a few new friends).

*This is not a substitute for your physician, coordinator or other medical professionals. This is meant to be peer support only.

Imagine a World.....
where a liver disease diagnosis isn’t a dead end, but a new beginning. Where the fear of a “transplant” is replaced by the power of knowledge and a supportive community.

This is the world The Liver Circle, Inc. (TLC) is building. We're more than an organization; we're a vital connection for patients, advocates, and medical professionals. We elevate the conversation around liver health and organ donation from the ordinary to the extraordinary, ensuring no one faces this journey alone.
We are a small team, and our website is in its infancy. Our partnerships will be announced in the coming weeks. New partners will be added as they come on board. Please bear with us as we update our infomation bit by bit. In the meantime, if you have any questions or would like more information, please reach out via email at: thelivercircle@gmail.com or melizabethlehman@gmail.com. Thank you for your patience as we grow!
Stay Tuned!

Mission
To empower and educate the public about liver health by sharing lived experiences and amplifying the work of partner organizations, ensuring every community has access to accurate, compassionate, and comprehensive information on liver disease and organ donation.
Vision
A future where lived experience drives liver health education and every patient finds their path to healing. A future where every person affected by liver disease feels seen, supported, and empowered—through shared experience, trusted partnerships, and compassionate advocacy.

Our Approach
Instead of reinventing the wheel, we are building a powerful hub—a central repository where lived experiences drive education and partnerships provide a comprehensive network of support. We cut through the confusion and myths at a grassroots level, bringing crucial information directly to communities. We are the voice for our partners on the ground.

By partnering with existing organizations and tapping into the fantastic support that already exists, liver health advocates will be able to spread their mission, no matter where they are located!

The 4 Pillars
The Liver Circle focus on 4 key pillars to ensure every advocate and partnership is a success.

Advocate Empowerment, Storytelling & Education
Partnerships & Collaboration
The heart of The Liver Circle (TLC) is its advocates. This pillar focuses on equipping patients, caregivers and transplant recipients to effectively share their journeys and knowledge, using personal experiences to educate the public and reduce stigma surrounding liver disease.
The Liver Circle’s strength lies in its ability to extend the reach of national and local liver and organ donation organizations. This pillar focuses on building and nurturing these crucial relationships.

Community Engagement & Awareness
This pillar focuses on how The Liver Circle directly interacts with the public to disseminate information and foster understanding.

Organizational Development & Sustainability
To ensure long-term impact, The Liver Circle needs a strong operational foundation.
